We had this form printed in triplicate on carbon paper.  Original kept by Props Master.  Copy given to lender when prop is borrowed.  Third copy can bekept by SM or filed in theatre office for back-up.  When prop is returned, lender signs bottom of PM's original.  In Word format.

Looks like my last post got deleted in all of the mayhem that's happening with SMNetwork right now but I'm hoping that someone out there has a props tracking sheet that they would be willing to share with me??  I'm starting rehearsals for Noises Off tomorrow and would like a better tracking sheet to go in with than the one that I have now.

This is my prop tracking sheet...prints on landscaped legal size paper so heads up...just the first page of what I use. Formatted in Numbers. Attached in .pdf format.

This is my first time tracking all the practical props so extensively. In the past I havent needed this much detail for a play; however, I found that this gave me some interesting insight. It's very handy when you are skipping around a lot and want to track where a large amount of stuff has ended up. Handy but not often needed.

What does the column "source" refer to?

I'm a little late to this, but I imagine it would be for tracking borrowed props from other theaters or individuals.  That's how I would use it, anyway.

Source could also mean where the prop was generated from

So, you can figure out where the prop idea came from

This is an example from early on in rehearsals.
Scene row: Shows nickname I've given the scene, and personal property used in the scene and the props which should be set during scene change
The columns from left to right:

• Prop- The property in question.
• Act- The act and scene.
• In- However that prop got onstage including the actor who takes it on, where on the stage it comes in at and where in the script it comes in.
• Where- This shows any major movement onstage such as a pass off.
• Out- Much like in except in but not.
• Source- Who is providing the prop or where was it obtained?
• Notes- Anything and everything else goes here. When working with multiple people a note of what is being used temporarily is also helpful.
