Today I learned that staring at an empty suitcase will not make it pack itself....shame, that.

I learned (the hard way) that a muffler is HOT after you've been driving around some.  I will be applying aloe liberally!

Yesterday, I learned the basics of shooting a revolver (and that the recoil on a .38 is no where near as bad as I expected), how to cock a shot-gun, that not all incendiary rounds are created equal, and that it's actually quite hard to set fire to a pound of cold, raw bacon covered in glitter.

Yes, it was a VERY peculiar film shoot; I can't wait to see the finished product.

That Audrey Hepburn was considered terribly miscast in Breakfast at Tiffany's...that nobody would find her attractive or elegant.

(Good for all those times you wonder "WTF was the director thinking?!")
I personally would like to bring a tortoise onto the stage, turn it into a racehorse, then into a hat, a song, a dragon and a fountain of water. One can dare anything in the theatre and it is the place where one dares the least. -Ionesco

I learned how to cable lights, and a useful trick for marking measurements accurately (I love the ATD of the company I'm interning with).

No matter how many times I tell people I am in a bad mood, there is always a couple of people who will just annoy the crap out of me . . .

I learned that though I haven't SMed a show in four years, ugly paperwork still drives me up the wall.

I learned that dropping a com set on an assumed broken toe WILL make certain that the toe is broken.  :o

I also learned that said broken toe will turn many colors during the course of a tech rehearsal.

I learned today that I was right... it's offically broken.  X-rays tell all.  I also learned there's really nothing to be done about a broken toe except:
Be careful until it heals.  :P

Last night I learned that even if you do get a decent amount of sleep during tech weekend (first time that's ever happened!), you will STILL be a totally wiped out zombie by Sunday night.

So very true! I just experienced this, and am now taking my day off to completely relax and regroup.

Something I learned: just because a show isn't "complicated" doesn't mean it isn't physically exhausting during 10 out of 12's.

Something I learned a long time ago - all shows are equal pain.  If a show is not complicated tech wise, actors will act up - if tech and actors are all playing nicely, there will be a designer who goes bananas.   Tech is like a void with expected pain, and someone, somewhere will fill the void.

And don't forget that director who just refuses to let things be simple.

Today I learned, no matter what the joys of a portable go button (wireless keyboard with a 30' range for a nice new Mac running the latest version of Q-Lab!), you cannot experience said joys if you mis-place your portable go button (luckily, it was only for 30 seconds, or so.  Just forgot to move it from where the house light controls are to where my script was after intermission, and no cues for two minutes.)

I learned today that the very moment you glance away from the line being said to write the simplest blocking note, the actor saying that line will immediately forget and call for it. No matter what.

Today I learned that stage managing 3 shows in the a very narrow time frame is a terrible idea.
