Tools of the Trade / How to make Pinocchio's nose grow?
« on: Mar 22, 2010, 09:58 am »
Hi to everyone. It has been a long time since I wrote here. I really do apologize. A lot of things happened in my life and I am glad to be back to my roots, which is theater. We're doing Pinocchio now in Guam, US and we are thinking of ways on how to make Pinocchio's nose grow onstage? Do you have any idea? The people of Guam will really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Tools of the Trade / any suggestions for the "rain effect"?
« on: Oct 30, 2007, 02:38 pm »
Hi...In the current play that we're doing, we need to have a "rain effect". What we did before was, we used a pvc pipe with holes in it and connected it to the nearest water source and we also put a gutter at the sides of the stage where the water will fall to directly lead the water out of the theater building. Now that we're touring it, using the same device would be impractical.

What i had in mind is to use a clear cellophane and cut it into fine pieces and put it in a confetti cradle. once it falls from the cradle and sidelights hit it, it will produce a crystal effect from afar. My director is challenging me to think of other options. Are there any ways to do a rain effect that's applicable for touring productions? Thank u very very much. ;)

hi to everyone!

hope you could help me with this. we have a current production, and our set is made of sand and gravel and stones. Im having problems in spiking because obviously any adhesive tape won't do because of the sand that's covering the whole floor. I can't use the stones in the area as markers because there are some dances/movements i don't want the actors to be tripped. i would appreciate your suggestions very much! thanks
