Hey all you SMs out there.
I have a question that I need help answering.
I'm currently preparing to start rehearsals for a show where the set is a 40'wide by 16'deep staircase. 12 steps with a platform on the top. Our rehearsal space isn't consistent and we will have time rehearsing on the set, but how do I tape this out? Our rehearsal rooms are no where near as large as the stage, however how can I provide the best guidance for blocking purposes.
ANy advice would be greatly appreciated!

Students and Novice Stage Managers / Internships in London
« on: Dec 18, 2008, 07:39 pm »
Hey Everyone!
I'm currently looking for internships in London for stage management and I'm having a hard time finding them on the internet. New York internships I can find in a second but London seems to be harder. I'm just wondering if anyone works in London and knows of some or even somewhere I can inquire about internships. That would be very helpful! Thanks!

The Hardline / Agreements!
« on: Oct 09, 2008, 10:31 am »
Does anyone know the agreement/contracts that are used on Broadway?
Maybe even a link to the full agreement?

If one were to write a letter to a professional stage manager to come and shadow you...
what would you like to hear and what would make you really want to have me come and shadow.
i'm sending out a few letters and don't quite know what to say.

Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / SHOWS: A Chorus Line
« on: Dec 22, 2006, 11:04 am »
For The record, teching a Chorus Line was the easiest show I've ever worked on. The only sets that moved were the mirrors that in like 4 parts in the show turn around and become black.. and at the end of the show.. the tape gets taken off the stage and THAT'S IT.

I'm ASMing The Music Man for a new theatre company. And I've never been as ASM before for a company I haven't worked with before. What questions should I ask. Should I assume my duties? What should I be prepared to do and not do? All the help is much appreciated.

Tools of the Trade / Condom reference??
« on: Mar 13, 2006, 08:58 pm »
I know there was a post earlier about condoms being used over mic packs. What was the reason again? I went to go see a show downtown Toronto the other night and my friend was in the show and I went backstage after and she told me (laughing of course) that they used condoms to cover the mic packs. What exactly does it do? I guess easier from slipping off or w/e but what are some other reasons? Thanks!!
