Set Changes Software
« on: May 01, 2010, 04:49 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm looking for a database or software that I can enter in by scene every set piece/prop used and who brings it on.  Then print out a master sheet, and a sheet by crew member and a sheet of every set piece/prop and what scenes its used in.

Is there anything out there like this?

not software, but check the forms section where there are a variety of templates and examples for them

Look at Filemaker - you would have to build it yourself, but filemaker is not THAT difficult to use. I have not made any SM apps in it, but I use it to track crew times (as a timeclock), I use it to create Job Safety Analasys' for jobs, and I use it to create a number of other reports. The JSA application is far more complex than I would imagine a set tracking application would be, and I created it after about a week of playing with Filemaker.

I don't know of any software specifically for this purpose.    I have always created this type of form in Excel (or choose or spreadsheet program).    Its a relatively simple form to create.   If you get really into the formulas, then you could even get it to break the form down for you.   The other "easy" option is to create a database (ie... Microsoft Access or similar).   If the database is set up correctly, then it will do all of the breakdowns automatically.

Good luck!
