Who has worked on/ attended Fringe Festivals
« on: Jun 16, 2017, 04:17 pm »
An interesting discussion was started locally this week about how Fringe (or other short/limited) festivals are handled around the country.

If you have done anything like that — original short plays w short rehearsal periods, minimal sets/cost/props, sometimes around the clock over an intense and limited performing schedule — can you please send me a note so i can ask some qqs?

Thank you

I have never done a Fringe show, but I was a venue manager for the Capitol Fringe Festival in DC a few years ago- had 9 (I think it was 9, it might have been more?) shows in my venue over the course of the month. 3 hours of tech time, 30 minute load-in and load-out before each show. If you questions I'd be happy to chat.
You will have to sing for your supper & your mortgage, your dental coverage & your children's shoes, over & over again while people in desk jobs roll their eyes the minute you start to complain. So it's a good thing you like to sing.

I am a SM on a NewWorks festival, and this will be my 8th year of working it this summer. I'm on 2 CERs for the new work and we only perform twice during the 2 week festival. Feel free to message me if this is what you're looking for.

I've worked on five NYMF (New York Music Theatre Festival) shows in the last seven years. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

I've done 5 shows at the Capital Fringe festival, 1 in their Fall Fringe mini-festival, and 3 in the Logan Festival of Solo Performance a few weeks ago.

Of these, I only worked with 2 from first rehearsal to closing. Most of them were shows that had already had successful productions elsewhere and I just joined for the local run.
