Do meal breaks count towards rehearsal hours?
« on: Sep 05, 2014, 01:37 pm »
Hi everyone-

I am about to start rehearsal on a show using a Guest Agreement for two actors, each allowed to work 32 hours a week. My director wants a clear answer if meal breaks count within these 32 hours. I know the Guest Agreement Rules stated that days should be 7 out of 10, but he doesn't seem satisfied by this answer. Does the 90min break count in those 32 hours? I can't seem to find a clear cut answer to give him.

I've been working in the UK and need to get back into the swing (and rules) of American theatre.
Thanks for the help

No meal breaks do not count as rehearsal hours, as you are not rehearsing. They are just part of the total span of day. If a day is 7 out of 10, that means 7 working hours within a 10 hour time frame.
