Vacation Fantasies?
« on: Jun 12, 2010, 12:16 am »
Inspired by the travel-recommendation thread, I thought I'd pose this question:  where does everyone want to go?  Any particularly fun or fantastic dream vacations?

I've done a bit of the Europe route, but actually feel like I haven't been to some important places in the good 'ole US of A.  Number one on my list for a "big" vacation is Alaska.  On a smaller scale (more do-able between shows) is visiting some of the historic cities in the Northeast I've never been to - Boston & Phillie.  Grand Canyon too.  Yosemite.  Yellowstone (Is it obvious I watched that PBS documentary on the National Parks?)

Where DON'T I want to go???

I'm slowly making my way through Europe, a few cities at a time.  Still so many places there I need to see.

However, the true dream trips are the Galapagos Islands and South Africa (specifically a safari).  If it wasn't for the whole dissection thing, I may have been a zoologist instead of a stage manager.

I've always wanted to hop on The Canadian, which is a five-day rail journey from Toronto to Vancouver. It costs about as much as an equivalent cruise, but it tends to sell out, so I often find myself with either the money or the time, but never both--so far.

New Zeland.  There's so much variety in such a small area, and it's so far away!

I'm biased (of course!) but NZ is one of the most beautiful places in the world....it really does look like the Lord of the Rings films!

A mate and I are planning to drive right through the middle of Australia next year - from Adelaide to Darwin - it's supposed to be one of the best road trips in the world and is something I've wanted to do for a while.

I'd also love to take the Canadian train trip - there's a Dick Francis book which takes place on the trip and it's fascinated me ever since.

Agreed! I am young (23) and have only been on a few select family trips so I find intrigue in every vacation idea.  My girlfriend went to Sicily a few years back and I found myself drooling over the pictures...so beautiful!
