Happy New Years!! My Resolution is....
« on: Dec 31, 2010, 11:09 am »
Happy New Years everyone! Last year was the first year I made a resolution and actually stuck to it.  I quit smoking!  This year I am going to try to fix this awful habit of not sending out cards (birthday and such) to friends and family ontime if at all.  I know it's so awful!  I'm going to buy the cards and stamps now, address and stamp them so all I have to do is drop them in the mail when the time comes.

So what's your resolution?

Is to live without resolutions and goals, and to explore a world where I can I live and grow beyond finite expectations and resolutions.  To be open to a world of exponential growth and not be limited to incremental growth.  And with the that, drop the noise, clutter and let the productivity of a simple life shine thru.  (Yes, I know there is a resolution in there – hush!)

Congrats on quitting smoking !!!
One of the hardest things I have ever done.
But I've got 17 years smoke-free...

Theatrically- I want to branch out! I've worked for the same few directors, and while I love them dearly, I need to network more and meet more people.

Lifewise- Get back into a fitness regimen. This has been a post-closing resolution, really. I think I need a class. Hoping to get back into boxing, and the girls from my last show are doing a private poledancing class!
I personally would like to bring a tortoise onto the stage, turn it into a racehorse, then into a hat, a song, a dragon and a fountain of water. One can dare anything in the theatre and it is the place where one dares the least. -Ionesco

...get in the gym more consistently (started a regimen in the past year = last year's resolution)
...read even more (read more this year = last year's resolution)
Let's hope this next year in just as successful as the last.

Happy New Year everyone! Best of luck and well wishes to everyone in 2011!

...and good luck remembering to write down 2011 for the first time on all your forms...

...to be better at keeping touch with people I've worked with.  To not get so buried in show emails that I forget to send personal ones to family and friends.

My resolution is to try to improve my time management and self-discipline, specifically with regards to homework.

And @Matthew: hehehehe... oh, Calvin.
Don't be so reverent about reality. It's just a trick, done with mirrors.

I am seconding @lsears with my first resolution: I'm great at timely responses to work matters but I could really use some improvement when responding to those in my social circle.

I'd also like to find more of a middle ground in my work habits - I'm either all the way on or completely off. Being able to find "half off" would be wonderful for those moments of free time!

...see LESS theatre (I saw 80 shows this year on top of working 45/52 weeks this year as a SM).  I need to spend more time with friends, and enjoying other hobbies and activities.

...learn to relax.

...get the dental work done that I need but can't afford.

no resolutions here, but I am continuing to visualize a SM gig that pays a living wage, a roof that doesn't leak and a great vacation somewhere along the line.

After watching a couple of spectacular mental implosions at the theatre I work at, I've decided to create and implement a plan to prevent physical, mental, and emotional burn-out in a high-stress career field. Starting with water and yoga.

This wasn't a resolution, but it has been on the to-do list for awhile.  I'm finally cleaning and consolidating my kit/toolboxes/office drawers.  I go into tech on Tuesday and it feels like a good start to the year.
