When putting on my headset at the top of the show "Time to play theatre!"

"Be fair with others, but then keep after them until they're fair with you."

During a production of A Streetcar Named Desire, I began the last series of cues with "Let's put the cuckoo back in her nest," just before Blanche was carted away. The crew wouldn't allow me to start those cues until I said it every night.

I'm doing a production of The Rocky Horror Show (opening tonight!), and the phrase "Come get your condoms" has become a staple. No, I'm not talking about condoms for mic packs. This is Rocky Horror, people; use your imagination.

The one that I feel that I use the most is:
"Ok. I'll do it."
Can be used many different ways for many different things.

Others think that this is the real one:
"How am I supposed to respond to that."
I only use this for one reason.  ;)
Grant me the **Serenity**
to accept the things that I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the Wisdom to hide those people...

My first university show as an assistant stage manager, I was literally on underwear duty. It was a show where the actors more often then not ended up in their underwear by the end of the scene (The Blue Room). I got harassed by one of my very good actor friends, in good taste, for having to announce "Underwear Check" before every show. Well guess what, on closing, she forgot her underwear in her car on the 2nd to last show, and I had to go get it... Now we joke around with it every time we're working on a show together. (The reason her underwear was in her car is because there was an agreement for the actors to do their own underwear laundry)

Others include:

"Noted" while writing it in notes.

"Mmhmm" with internal panic, or a look of exasperation.

"What can I do for you?"

And, my favorite, when I am tasked to close down a theatre:
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Thank you for coming out and enjoying our show, unfortunately we have to lock up, you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here"

I recently realized just how often I say "Thank you" or "Thanks".

Mine is something I say at the end of every rehearsal. My kiddos(children's theatre) all say it with me now! It goes "Question? Comments?? Concerns?...thoughts to ponder? Things I should know?

And also, "MOVE WITH PURPOSE!!"
"I can't tell if this is killing me, or making me stronger!"

I use "please" & "thank you", along with "we'll figure it out" and finally- as we start the show "let's rock, let's roll - let's rock & roll!"

"It's that time..." has become a new one for me. I use it mostly for getting people back from breaks, but since I'm in the green room with the cast through most of half hour, this has become our variation on places, as well: "It's that time! Let's go do a show."
Also used when we're about to rehearse something that no one likes doing.

On 2-show Saturdays, I like to paraphrase Ernie Banks...  "It's a beautiful day for Theatre, let's play two!"
