Need help making a playlist
« on: May 11, 2012, 07:35 pm »
The Tech Director (Also the person that hooked me on theatre and the tech theatre teacher) at my school is leaving.  We always have a end of the year party to just wrap up and celebrate after a year of good shows.  This year I've been asked to make a playlist for the party.

I have no clue what I should put in.  I want a mix of show tunes and good bands... but I've never been known for having good taste in music.

Any suggestions?

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes has a good CD of punk/pop musical covers (such as The Phantom of the Opera and Science Fiction Double Feature) - a way to be theatre-y without playing showtunes all night...one of my biggest peeves at a party....

Any type of music they're into in particular?

Ehh. All the theatre kiddies that are coming to the party pretty much are good with any music.  I know that "I'll make a man out of you" from Mulan and "I've got a big bag of crabs" have to be in the mix somewhere so song that could possibly lead to or lead from those.... Which seems unlikely to me.

Heh.  One of those weird songs that an actor was listening to and then the techs heard it and now it's in the preshow mix.

Now have:
I'll Make a Man out of You.
I've got a big bag of crabs
I put a spell on you (performed)
A little priest (performed)
Loathing (performed)

Given the uniqueness of the song title I think it's one of the songs from Weebl's stuff. There's a video or two for the song. Unfortunately I am unable to forget most songs once I've heard them.  If you're going to throw that in you should probably do Kenya as well. Or Badgers, but that's so old school.
