Broadway theaters

Got a question.

I'm interested in applying for assistant stage management positions at Broadway theaters.  Who do I have to send cover letters and my resume to?  and can only Equity SMs apply?

thanks.
Andrea

For commercial shows, you apply for a show not a theater.

The best beat to submit your resume to the PSM or the General Management office.

ASM positions for Broadway shows are a union position.

FYI ... Broadway positions are always i high demand, and currently in short supply.

How much experience do you have as an ASM?  Where?
You can send your resume to the PSM at the shows you wish to work on, however, because they are union positions, I wouldn't hold my breathe.  You can make great contacts and if you shadow that would be the best way to make an entry.

Try to get on a show as the PA.  See what shows are about to go into rehearsal and contact the General Management office to see if they have the PAs in place.  If you are good you will establish a relationship with that office and that PSM.

It's best to get some experience under your belt before going for Broadway. Colleges tell you go for it but it can be a tr ap if ou aren't sure what you are doing.  Get some non-union touring on your resume and then go for it.

Good luck

Thanks!  I went into the city yesterday and sent out resumes to a good number of PSMs on Broadway.  Hopefully that will help.  :)

I think I have a good amount of experience.  I've worked at 4 different regional theaters (will be 5 in July), and 1 theater in Brooklyn.  There has been a range of different shows I've worked on and different positions from intern to ASM to SM to PSM to replacement SM.  (I've been building up my resume for 5 years now.)  And I believe i have all my EMC points (have to call Equity to make sure.)  So, I believe I'm ready for Equity work, but I guess I'll know for sure when Equity theaters are willing to hire me.
