New HS Student working in Theatre
« on: Feb 12, 2010, 12:28 am »
Hey Everyone!

Our school is hosting the production 'Back to the 80's' and was wondering if anyone out here had worked with this performance?!?!
Even if you haven't, can you offer a high school senior any tips on how to run a successful production.  I'm the Student Technical Director for this production and have been working a little bit in the theatre for a few years, but this will be my first production where I will actively be involved in.

Any tips, such as ways to communicate, keeping everything under control, best practices to use, etc.  Anything really!  I've been looking around here for a good while, found some interesting things as well!

Let me know!

Thanks,

-Lucas

Lucas--

First of all welcome to the boards!  As for tips, you're asking about a bunch of things and its a little hard to even know where to begin.  Do you have a more specific question for the boards?

A good place to start would be getting a clear understanding of your role as student technical director.  What are you responsible for and what is your role in the production.
