Getting back to the craft after ten years.
« on: Feb 23, 2010, 08:14 pm »
Hello everyone

My name is Todd. I recently got back into Stage Management.

A little bit about myself. The last show I did was back in 99. I enlisted in the Navy and I was in for about 10 years. I recently signed on to a new show. I am a little nervous.

So basically I am to far behind the curve or should shadow I someone first. My resume is pretty extensive from small house shows to big elaborate productions. BUT they were all ten years ago.

If there is any tips that anyone could pass on I would appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

Todd,

Don't worry too much. If you had the skills ten years ago, then they may be rusty but they're probably still there. Read the archived posts on the boards you'll see that although the technology may have been updated, stage management is still about organization, communication and people skills (just like when you did it last!).

Make sure you have a great assistant and welcome back!

Richard
