Royal Opera Live
« on: Jan 07, 2013, 11:43 am »
I've been flicking back and forth to this all morning. The Guardian's running live (and some not live) broadcasts from the rehearsals at the Royal Opera House.

The last thing they have (at London's 7:20 pm, my Canadian 2:20 pm) is a per-recorded performance of The Valkyrie, which you can either watch from the audience perspective, with the conductor, or with the SM backstage calling the show.

I've been on this all day - catching glimpses of old colleagues at every stage! Loved it, all involved seem very happy with results!

Feed should be up until around 2200 GMT (1700 EST?) Thursday for anyone who wants to catch it!

Here's the link to the backstage action. The DSM begins calling about 11 minutes in.

The 17 feeds from Act 3 of The Royal Opera's Die Walkure are now available at http://www.roh.org.uk/opera-machine.

I believe, this time, the resource will be available permanently.

This is fantastic - for teaching and for friends and family who have trouble understanding what I do.  Thanks for sharing.

Favorite portion is 1:00:00-1:10:00, trouble shooting backstage leading up to a critical moment.

This is great, thanks for sharing! I also like that you can bring up the prompt book and follow along.

Also, I wish my hair and makeup looked as good as hers...
