I Love Love Love Candide - have a blast! - I've done the show three times as a performer and once as crew, and I would love to SM it - the music is magical and addictive, the play funny and absurd. Are you doing the Prince revival from the 70s, the original Bernstein or then newer update?

Mary Zimmerman was allowed by the estate to do rewrites . . . she has gone back to a lot of Volatire . . . there is some re-ordering, cuts, additions, etc.  We will continue to work on the show, which is great - although it's still Candide, it's got a little different spin.

So, it's now known as the Zimmerman Candide.

Candide seems to be ending up with as many versions as Cabaret and Merrily We Roll Along.

Well, we can blame that on Lillian Hellman.  (Or thank her, one of the two)

do keep us apprised on changes/improvements/losses - it has been one of my faves forever! (as mentioned, I've done it three times, once as Cunegonde, once as the Old Lady and once in what was a track that included nuns, townspeople and sheep). That score never gets old -

Will you have TJ Gerkens as your lighting designer? He's fantastic!

Yes, TJ is still on the show - there was some question for awhile.

It's Mary's "team" across the board which I have worked with twice before.

Should be a lot of fun, but it has a hectic rehearsal process

3 Days with the 8 new cast members
3 Days with 7 of the new cast members (1 goes away for three days) + 7 of the returning cast members
4 Days with the full cast
1 Day of Staging
6 Days of tech
and then previews

GO TEAM CANDIDE!!!!

We have preview #4 and #5, and the show is going very well . . .

production photos (on youtube)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GbJBHaTedw&feature=channel_video_title

Part of the very large press machine, this morning, I am on my way to Fenway Park for a 10:00a Sound Check, 1:27p members of the cast are singing the National Anthem at a Red Sox's game (on a semi-televised game), then we jump in a Duck Boat for a police escort back to the theatre for a 2:15p curtain.

It is the best of all possible worlds . . .

I am always missing this production, I actually toured the theatre while it was in DC, but couldn't stay to see it, and my partner lives in Boston, but I probably wont be back in time to see it, cause of the current show I am working on. I visited BU looking into Grad programs, and such and loved that theatre. I wish I could just teleport to see the show and then teleport back, man I would love to work on that production in that space!

Loved the show last night! Those sheep are cute! They should sell those at concessions.

Great pictures Matthew- looks like a beautiful production. (And agreed- cute sheep!)
I personally would like to bring a tortoise onto the stage, turn it into a racehorse, then into a hat, a song, a dragon and a fountain of water. One can dare anything in the theatre and it is the place where one dares the least. -Ionesco
