If it's going to be a long run, make sure you have the number of a reputable chiropractor. Working on raked stages for long periods of time can be hard on actors' backs and spines.

Last year I worked an outdoor festival. The main street of the city was shut down and there were four stages placed in various locations. The stages had musical acts, talent shows, poetry readings and many more things.
I was the SM for one of the stages. I worked with the sound guy to make sure there were mics when neccessary, that performers knew what order they were going on in, and basically made things run smoothly.

If this is educational theater I would speak to her adviser. This is unacceptable and if she is receiving a grade or credit for this course, she should fail.
If this is professional, I would speak to the Production Manager about getting her fired and replacing her with another assistant who actually wants to be there. It sounds like she has no concept of what stage managing is and, even worse, doesn't want to learn. I know that no one wants to get someone fired (it was my least favorite part of my old 'real world' job) but there are plenty of ASMs out there who would love a job like this.

best of luck to you. this is an unfortunate situation for anyone involved.

i can only imagine what tech is going to be like

College and Graduate Studies / Re: need your information

I'm in the MFA program at Rutgers in New Jersey. My undergraduate degree had nothing to do with theater (theoretical mathematics, in fact, don't ask). I took three years off between undergrad and grad. During that time I worked on some small non-equity shows around Boston.

I do think that you can apply (it never hurts to apply) but you should be aware that some schools may tell you to try to get some more experience first.

best of luck.
