From a Show report from Evil Dead The Musical
"The Beaver didn't seem as active tonight.  I check and his batteries had not been changed because apperently 'no one wants to touch a bloody beaver' Deck drew straws and the batteries have now been replaced.

"What bold choices you made"
LOL The AD of the company I work for, and I have an ongoing inside joke.  Where we say "bold choice" anytime we don't have anything good to say.

Both however, always ask about house size.

Ticket sales is one of the only things I don't have to deal with at my current company, So unless we are oversold or there is some type of major problem I usually don't know house size until I'm in the booth looking at the house.  When an actor asks me about the house size I usually reply with something like "there will definaitly be an audience this evening, congratulation! you've now exhuasted my knowlage on the subject."  If they press the issue I will go check but usually I tell them as long as there is an audience, "size doesn't matter"

I work with an alternative company and with the raciness of most of our shows this does happen sometimes.  I've adopted the motto "It's only community theatre till some one gets offended.  Then it's ART!!!"  I share this with my cast/crew! ;D

The Santaland Diaries - This year will be my fourth?  Fifth?  I've lost track.  One year as ASM and all the following as SM.

I love that Show!! I've SM'd it twice with the same cast but different venues (both Bars!)

The Green Room / Re: I can't believe I just had to do that...

So I go into the obvious shop and the clerk, who sees me studying the boxes of dildos maybe a little more closely than his regular customers, asks me how he can help me, I reply, "Do you think I could take some of these out of the boxes and see how far they bounce?"

Freaking Hysterical!!!  I SM'd for Debbie Does Dallas The Musical and had to paint  2 VERY large Dildos banana yellow.  This was after I went to every shop in Phoenix asking to see the largest dildo they had. and oh yeah do you have this in yellow?

This doesn't pertain to the recording really but we always add into our speech "For your maximum enjoyment please turn all cellphones to vibrate!"  It always gets a laugh and rarely do we have a prob.

Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / Re: Stop The Show!
« on: Nov 01, 2006, 03:11 pm »
I have only had to stop one show.  W were doing a production of Hedwig and had a obviously intoxicated man in the audience.  He was asked to leave and did or so we thought.  He actually went outside and called the cops and filed a assult charge on our lead actor.  My house manager let me know the cops were outside and needed to speak to the actor right away.  I went out and convinced them to let us finish the scene and them I would send him out.  I let the actor know what was going on.  Luckly there is no fourth wall in this show and the lead talks directly to the audience for most of the show.  So he told them what was going on.  We then had the band play other random songs they knew to entertain the audience.  It worked out well since it was a Punk musical alot of poeple thought it was part of the show.
