I start rehearsal for a show tomorrow and in the week of prep one of our actors has been difficult to get a hold of.  I don't mean that he doesn't return calls, but his voicemail is consistently overflowing so you can't even get in to leave a message.  Sometimes when you email and tell him, he will respond with a phone call.  Sometimes the email also bounces back.  One day when it  the asst. costume designer was unable to get in touch with him schedule a fitting prior to rehearsals starting, his agent was called.  The agent's response made it seem like this was standard operating procedure for the actor.

Has anyone encountered a similar situation?  What was your plan of action?

The Hardline / VITA assistance from AEA

I don't know if this is the right place for this, so mods please move if there is a more appropriate board.

My question is has anyone taken advantage of the VITA from AEA (particularly in the NYC office)?  I was thinking about signing up next week and was wondering what I needed to take with me, how early to get there and what to expect.  I've been doing my own taxes for years but feel like I need some professional guidance to maximize my savings on my taxes.

Employment / Benefits and Galas...
« on: Feb 07, 2007, 05:51 pm »
How do you get involved in the various and assorted theater benefits and galas that go on?  From my understanding, theaters tend to use their stage managers for gala events but in NYC there are so many benefits throughout the year that require stage managers.  I'd love to get involved in one to see what it's like, and also I'm sure it would be a fabulous networking experience.  Any suggestions?

SMNetwork Archives / Printers
« on: Jan 02, 2007, 10:48 pm »
I am looking into getting a new printer and am in need of some guidance.  I currently have an HP and I'm not displeased with it, but it has gone downhill quickly and I am willing to go a new direction.  I also have a Dell b/w printer that I cannot use since I have a Mac and there are no drivers available that I can find out there for it...

I'm interested in the possibility of getting a small, portable printer but am not sold on that notion.  I don't want to spend a whole lot of money whichever way I go, I just want a cheap workhorse printer.  Suggestions?
