Self-Promotion / Wild In Wichita - LATC
« on: Sep 10, 2013, 07:16 pm »
I'm about to hand over the reins on "The Road Weeps; The Well  Runs Dry," which I'm production managing to the PSM, so I've taken another SM gig at LATC. This new play is called "Wild In Wichita" and tells the story of two elderly people who fall in love at a retirement home. It's a very sweet play and I'm excited to be part of it.

Self-Promotion / Shades - LATC
« on: Apr 13, 2013, 01:49 pm »
Tonight is opening night for a new play called "Shades," opening at LATC (Los Angeles Theatre Center). The show was supposed to open a couple weeks ago, but there was some kind of dispute resulting in the director cast and crew walking off the show. A friend took over as director and asked me to come on board as the PSM. I was pleased and surprised that he asked me - though I worked as a PSM for many years, I'd been away from theatre for about eight years as I pursued film and television projects.

We've had eight rehearsals and one preview. We're fortunate to have a wonderful cast that found its way around an emotionally difficult piece in spite of the limited rehearsal time. The designers were a bit reluctant at first - they felt as though they'd already done their work in preparation for the initial opening date and felt frustration at having a new director with, at time, a new concept. That said, they all came through with flying colors.

It's been intense during the last couple weeks with a great deal to do and very little sleep. I'm looking forward to a great opening tonight and to starting a regular performance routine.

Introductions / Re: Back in the trenches

I won't get the script until I arrive at rehearsal tomorrow, so I don't even know what the show is. A wonderful man named Gary Lee Reed, who I worked with at Actors' Co-Op years ago, is directing. He asked me to come on board and I couldn't refuse a chance to work with him. All I know is that it's a one act and opens in a couple weeks.

Hi, all! I've been away from the theatre for about eight years and have missed it a lot. While time is permitting, I'm jumping back in to SM for a friend's production. I may be a bit rusty, but I'm really excited to be stage managing again and am thrilled to have found this forum!
