Im Canadian, and have had a few of my friends go through some of the programs, and the main ones i would suggest for tech are Alberta, NTS, Ryerson.

Employment / How much to charge for LX design
« on: Apr 20, 2011, 01:28 pm »
A friend/past colleague, who runs a year-old non-profit childrens theater, is putting a show into a festival. She approached me about doing her LX design but I'm unsure how much payment I should ask for. I have about 15 shows of experience doing Lx design or assisting in LX design. I have a 4 hour Load-in/Program, and plenty of prework if I take the gig.

Thoughts?

The company I am working with are doing into the woods and South Pacific. Either would be helpful. Preferably including vocal score.

I think its important to also remember the EPI-Pens are not meant as a cure per-say but more of a temporary solution until one can get to see paramedics.

I always take my blocking in paper form, however I do have my laptop open and ready, I find it handy if the director has any questions. "What Props do I have in this scene?" Or "Whats that song from the 60's with that guy... you know 'wild something'?" or "how do the Canadian military salute?" I also sometimes get some Minor Sound effects for rehearsal (Phone rings etc that I run out of Itunes)

If the run is long enough I will type the confirmed blocking into a digital script.
