Would I be correct in assuming that you're doing this show in an academic setting?

Oh no. This is an AEA approved showcase performance.

Hi-

I wanted to get people's opinion on this because I can't decide if I'm justified in being upset.

I'm doing a showcase and our show shares a small rehearsal room with another show. There is no storage for props but every day I pack up our props in bags and neatly leave them out of the way.

Recently I find out that the other show has been using a few of our props without asking or even informing me. The props are bedclothes & pillows and so aren't  breakable but are fabric and could be stained or ripped.

I'm just a bit befuddled. As  stage manager would you ever borrow another show's props without permission?

I should add that the point is a bit moot since we are moving into the theatre and no longer sharing the space. I also gently expressed to the other SM that I wished she had asked me first before borrowing.

This is interesting.  Many times I send out pdf files to ensure they are not edited after I send them out.  This totally changes that. I'm not sure how I would feel if someone took a file I had purposely made into a pdf and changed it into a file that could be edited- it seems very sneaky.

Just as you I would not turn down an opportunity at Broadway but that is not the goal I have in mind.

I like the atmosphere of working in a regional theatre and working with a company.  I don't feel that everyone should or needs to aim for Broadway.

If you want information on Rutgers just send a message.  I am an MFA there.

Every undergrad has a show assignment every semester as either an ASM/PA on the mainstage or as a SM/ASM in the blackbox theatre.  Sometimes you can get two assignments in a semester, for better or worse.

We take transfers but you may have to take a bit more time to graduate depending on what credits transfer

My gut reaction is that it would make me feel a bit uncomfortable, even though I never put anything in a report that couldn't be shared.

Employment / Resume- seperating NY shows

In the last months I've started getting stage management work in New York.  Right now I have 4 show credits in NY and may be getting another 2 soon.

How valuable is it to separate and note stage management jobs in NY?

Right now I have my Stage Manager credits and then my ASM credits followed by Additional experience.

If you have any questions about Rutgers I can answer pretty much all of them.  Send me a private message.

Hello all-

Is anyone a TDF member? Would you suggest becoming a member?

They are discounting memberships a bit and it made me consider whether it would be a good thing to join.  It doesn't seem to expensive, only $25 a year.

I found one of these when cleaning up a rehearsal hall.  It's pretty great, though I did have to replace the plastic rings after a while, but it still works quite well.
