Homework Help / Deadline 3.22.13: Stage Managers and Equity

Project due date: 3.22.13

Questions:
I'm a students at SOU and I am working on my capstone. I'm trying to find sources for journals and articles in which talk about stage managers and equity. The question I am trying to answer is: Why are stage managers apart of Equity?

I know they play a huge part of any production, but Stage Managers have more practical abilities/uses then designers or actors. I know stage managing is an art in its own way I just want to be able to find information about stage managers and equity.

If anyone can guide me to sources or other websites I would much appreciate it.

Doing more research I have come to 2 significant questions that may help with my question.
Where can I find/ what is the history of stage managers? (generally around 1980s, when the SMA was created)

what are the major benefits of being an equity stage manager? i understand they will have more stability finding a job and they are able to voice their wants during meetings, but what else?

Tools of the Trade / Any Stage Managers use LiveScribe Pens?
« on: Feb 25, 2013, 12:41 am »
I'm a college student and have been using the LiveScribe pen and books for my classes and one day while I was in Shakespeare class I thought about using it for rehearsals and notes. What I love about the pen is that it holds all the information you write down and when you plug it into a computer, BAM! You have photocopies of what you wrote on your computer. I also know there is an app you can buy with the pen that will change it all to text.
The only downside I see is that you HAVE to use the special paper/notes books in order for it to work, but with something like this pen would you as a Stage manager use it for a production use?

Introductions / Hello! Hello!
« on: Feb 24, 2013, 03:36 pm »
Hello I'm Veronica!
I'm a soon-to-be graduate at Southern Oregon University. I am graduating with the emphasis and stage management and was referred to this website from an OSF SM. I am in the process of writing my capstone and was told that this website would be of good use to me. I've slowly roamed the website a couple times and am now excited I am becoming a part of this community, eventually get some questions answered, and make connections with other stage managers
