Students and Novice Stage Managers / Saving Prompt Books
« on: Jan 14, 2018, 01:34 pm »
I've been a stage manager for a little bit now and I've collected quite a collection of prompt books. I've always been taught to save them, but I never knew why. I understand that if we ever work the show again, it might be helpful, but when I've worked on a show again, I usually just use all my digital files, and thats it. (I would also love to re-use some of these binders/tabs that are collecting dust in my closet to save some money)

I guess my question is what does everyone do with their old prompt books? Do you save everything? Do you just save the script? And if you do save them, what is the reason?

Tools of the Trade / Should an ASM have their kit?
« on: Oct 17, 2016, 01:22 pm »
Hello all! I am working an educational show as an ASM, which I haven't done in a while, and I had a quick question. I have a pretty extensive sm kit (that I've gathered from over the years), should I bring these to rehearsals/tech? It is a dance show, and I will only be apart of the process for about a week (tech week into shows), and the SM I am currently working under is a senior, so I assume he has his own kit.

Introductions / Hello There!
« on: Sep 07, 2016, 06:04 pm »
I've been on this site for about four years now, but I haven't really been contributing (due to the fact I've been in high school/never had any formal classes), but I'm excited to start taking formal classes and bettering myself as a stage manager through this awesome community!

My name is Madison Schultes (as you can probably tell by the username) and I've been a stage manager for about four years now. It's been mostly school and children's theatre, with a few professional gigs here and there, but I'm finally ready to take the plunge into full on Stage Management heaven!
