The Hardline / AEA contract question
« on: Aug 30, 2017, 09:22 am »
Hi.  I am the AEA ASM on an upcoming show. My date of starting my contract is this week.  But it's odd because the theatre is dark this week and prep doesn't start until next week.  So my question is when I show up tomorrow and the theatre realizes their mistake, can they change my date of starting to next week or since we are already in this week do they have to let me work? I had asked my rep about it when I signed the contract but he said everything was fine.  So now I'm just curious.

The Hardline / LORT D Schedule Question
« on: Mar 16, 2016, 06:07 pm »
Quick question for the smart people on here.

As a reference,  I am working on a LORT contract right now.  Heres my question:  After a show has opened,  how much notice do the actors need to be given about a rehearsal being held? This was not on a calendar as it is not something that was planned for and is a bit of an emergency situation.   I can't find anything that is specific to this situation.  All I could find is that the actors must be given 12 hours notice of the span of each rehearsal day.  Would that count here as well?

Thanks so much for your help!!

The Hardline / 10 out of 12s Meal Break Question
« on: Nov 23, 2015, 01:38 am »
I'm working on a LORT D Contract currently and I was told that dinner on a 10 out of 12 can be 1.5 hours as long as we end the day 30 mins earlier, making the day a 10 out of 11.5.  I have NEVER heard of this.  Every other theatre that I have worked at (different contracts) have operated on the idea that a 10 out of 12 means a 2 hour dinner break.  Then if you want people in costume you call them to get dressed (or for half hour) after the 2 hour meal break.  Have I just been working at places that misinterpreted the rule and never looked into it?

I do have an email (from the PSM last season) from Equity saying that a 1.5 hour break is acceptable during rehearsals; apparently tech is considered a rehearsal. (Personally, I  think this is crap because it means the crew gets only 30 mins for a break, but that's just me.) But I am very curious about other people's experience with this.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Thank you!!

The Hardline / AEA Shared Productions
« on: Jun 22, 2011, 01:52 pm »
Hi there.  I am writing because I have a question to ask and thought this would be a great place to get some feedback.

I am about to begin an AEA show that is starting at one theatre and will then be travelling to my theatre.  We have 2 days of rehearsal to convert the production to our space before we get onstage and begin spacing/tech.

My question is since it is the same company that will be travelling to my theatre, do I need to do the meeting for Equity business again since they will have done it at the first theatre.  I have not done a co-production before and was unsure if the company would need to elect new deputies as well as vote on the lunch hour since it will be two days.  Thank you for your help with this.

Also, since I am here what questions would you want to ask the SM for the show at the first theatre it is playing in.  I have some ideas already of what I want to know but I was wondering what other people would ask.

Thanks for your input.    :D

Employment / Touring- Windwood Productions, anyone?
« on: Jan 28, 2009, 08:10 pm »
Hi there.  I was just wondering if anyone here has worked for Windwood Productions.  They are a national touring company.  Does anyone have any experience with this group as a stage manager or ASM?   Please let me know either here or through a private message.  I'm interested in other peoples' experiences with this company... good or bad.

Thank you very much.

Hey guys.  I know alot of you have recommended that people who want to tour try and get on a show with AFT.  Well, I have landed a show with them and I'm looking to talk to some stage managers that have worked for them.  I have heard great things from actors that have worked with them, but I wonder what it's like for the SMs.  Also, I got the tour info packet but was just wanted to hear the things they don't tell you about.  I want to be as prepared for this as I possibly can so I figure talking to some of you that might have worked for them would be good.

If this is in the wrong place or if has already been discussed, I apologize.

Thanks for all of your help.
Natalie  ;D
