I am looking at going to USITT again this year (I went once in 2012). USITT offers a stage management mentorship program, where you get paired with a mentor and help work the conference events and in exchange they wave your conference fees.

Has anyone done this program before? It sounds like an interesting experience, but it sounds like they demand most of your time. The main reason I'm going this year is to talk to grad schools and internships programs and to attend sessions in stage management as well as other areas like lighting. I want to make sure I get the most out of the conference and don't want to spend all my time working it.

I need to make up my mind soon, the deadline for applications is Tuesday (Dec 3) and I may already be to late to apply (I don't know when they started excepting applications).

So does anyone have any insight into this program and if it's worth doing?

Introductions / Hello SMs!

Hello everyone! I'm a SM currently finishing up a BFA in Oregon. I'm looking forward to leaving education theatre for 'the real world'! I'm looking at internships for after graduation, however if nothing pans out then I will probably stay in Portland where I have already established some connections in the theatre world. I am passionate about theatre and stage management. I love what I do and the amazing people I get to work with everyday!

Hopefully I will find myself working with some of you one day!

Side note: I love that in your profile it asks you about your kit. Mine is pretty standard, but my favorite thing about it is that it's on wheels for easy transportation! And I always make sure it has my pink, glittery light-up stress ball :)
