Hello,

I have heard for years about exploring this route and I am now at a place when I have the time to pursuit it. I have a lot of info but I would love to hear from someone who has gone through the process.

Could I PM you and pick your brain and get a bit of advice?   :D

THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!

The Hardline / Joining AEA!
« on: Oct 09, 2018, 07:00 pm »
Hi all!

I will be getting my equity card soon! (I have yet to sign and speak with AEA)

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of things I should look out for or do as I transition into an AEA SM.  Is there anything you wish you knew when you first joined?

Any words of wisdom and advise is greatly appreciate it!

Thank you!

Employment / Re: The importance of on line presence
« on: Dec 16, 2015, 10:40 pm »
I've found about.me is a great and very easy way to have a simple contact page! Mine is about.me/katiemeade if anyone is interested in checking it out. I have a few things linked- you can send me an email, check out my linkedin and About the Artists page. Best of all, there's zero coding involved. I opt not to have my phone number available but that's an option too.

Thank you SMMeade, I just checked about.me and I really like the format. I've been wondering about online presence and I keep thinking when would be a good time to set up a SM site for myself, but I always stop the process once I start thinking about the formatting and how to list my credits... I just have to actually sit down a figure all of that out.

But about.me seems looks super easy to use, I will definitely be trying it out! Hopefully if someone needs me they can find me like this!

Employment / Quotes for SMing Events
« on: Nov 30, 2015, 01:25 pm »
Hi!
I was wondering if you guys can help me figure out what do people do in the following case. I've been approached to SM an event and they are asking me to send them my quote.
I usually SM showcases and College Dept productions and the payment ranges from $500-2000, So I'm not exactly sure what to charge for a day. This is the description they sent me:

- Includes load in and set up for Main Stage in time for 2 pm sound checks & rehearsals, 6:30 dinner break and 7:45 room opens / live band until 11 pm; then breakdown (7am to Midnight)
- Will provide two PA's as ASM and two PA's as runners during program
one in person production meeting prior to event as well as customary email and phone contact as needed
- A stipend is provided for the Stage Manager position

Any info regarding your experience would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!!

Tools of the Trade / Re: [FAQ] What goes inside a SM Kit?
« on: Dec 07, 2012, 04:34 pm »
Things that I continuously carry with me is a mini first aid kit, a skeletool, measuring tape, and a flash light, a lot of mechanical pencils and highlighters.
I add other things here and there depending of the needs of the production. but the list above are the ones I always have with me (it makes life a bit easier for me too)
