College and Graduate Studies / Current Emerson SM Students?

Hello,

I am in the midst of the college application process and I am trying to figure out which school to attend. I have been accepted to Emerson for SM and it is one of my top schools.  I wondering if anyone could answer these questions...


How many shows have you worked on so far?
Do you feel like your classes are preparing you for the shows?
How much one-on-one contact do you get with the professors in the department?
How much feedback do you get after a show?(from actors,directors and others)
What other schools did you consider and why did you choose Emerson?

Hello, I recently had my portfolio review at SU and I think I really like it. However, i would like some input from somebody who doesn't work for it. Does the fact that the degree would come from Syracuse help, hurt? THANKS!

I have called the show from the booth and i hated-- i couldn't see the conductor soo i had to do black outs by ear which though they may not seem like it are then millisecs late and music cues are harder. I have to be backstage plus i feel disconnected from the show in the booth and if something goes wrong on stage im closer to it

I have a table per act( i usually only have to deal with 2)and one on SL + SR, then by the order in which they are need. I tape out a sot for each prop and have a box for every one( i find painted shoe boxes work well). hope this helps!

I think its more important to dress comfortable for you but to sill look presentable and I always try to dress as neat and as appropriate as i can. I wear nice black pants( found a really comfortable and durable pair at old navy--then bought 5), a plain black 3/4 shirt, black sneakers, black belt and hair neatly pinned back.

i visited Emerson and while i was there they were really supportive of there theatre program and seems to have really good alumni and job connection, plus a stong liberal arts curriculum. also, the city of boston has its own great qualities

Hi! im at the end of my junior year i have chosen to pursue a degree in Stage Management. Right now my dream school is EMERSON, and i was wondering if anyone who is at Emerson as a SM major and could tell be about the interview and portfolio/resume process.

Students and Novice Stage Managers / large scale musical --1st time

Hey! im a student in high school and i am SMing a community theatre production of "children of eden". i have never SMed anything, i have always been on stage. so far all i have done is a prompt book(no cues yet) and a list of all the props we need and the cast's conflicts. this upcoming week is musical rehearsals, what should i be doing. HELP ME!
