Hey everyone,  I just jumped into a Lighting Design for Arsenic and Old Lace in Hammonton NJ for the second and vine street players, does anyone have the script in electronic form?

I was the sound op for a production of Miracle On 34th Street last Christmas and we had a show stop.  There's a scene were two paperboys are on stage when the lights come up and yell their bit, and the run off, they came out in the dark and took their places.

Well, probably see where this is going, during one show, lights go and the stage is empty, the ASM comes over the headset saying that paperboy 1 just told him that paperboy 2 fell into the pit in the blackout.  It was about a 12 foot fall onto concrete.  SM stopped the show, I helped treat the actor and then after the ambulance and a broken collarbone later, the show started again.   Long night.

Stage Management: Other / I have an ASM... now what?
« on: Apr 17, 2011, 06:38 pm »
So, I've been managing a traveling choir for a while now (about 50 gigs a year various venues and such) and I've been doing all the SM work by myself.  I was recently given a ASM.  My problem is that I'm not really sure what do with her.  She's competent, and driven, but I've got most of the rehearsal and show work down to where only I am needed.   So what what should I do?

I normally say I when it comes to things I do.   I use position or character names when it come to “in the flow of the show” kind of stuff but for accidents, injuries, absence, lateness I’ll use the person’s names.

I keep wondering if it's just a case now where there's too much going on in the cues to allow all of them to executed safely.  I haven't seen the show but from everything I've read with the flight, animation, and just the normal bread and butter calls, it's almost too much.

In the last year...

I've replaced the floors in 4 rooms of my house (last room will be next month) and have drywalled my kitchen, built a pantry, dry walled a family members house, installed a dishwasher, installed garbage disposal...  I think that's it.

Very neat.  For us CT SM's seeing behind the scenes of the big leagues is awesome.

"Toilet Flushed Green Day"  Sound Op forgot to check the track name before playing it.  It was the opening sequence music instead of a toilet flush.

I'm from the world of community theater so not only do I also bus proof myself for the show I'm working on, but sitting on my desk here at work is a... wait for it... binder... that outlines everything I do and documents all the programs that I've written...  It's got the title Scanning Operations Binder with WWPD written in subscript underneath (What Would Phil Do).

I leave my book at the theater as well, never had anyone "mess with it" but I do keep it locked up in the box office next to the money, so unless we get robbed and the robbers have an overwhelming desire to call the next nights show, it's safe.
