Personally for my theatre we have kids 13-19 and we can never get them to be quiet so we create a green room outside and in our school band room to keep the kids in till; they are ready, it lets them get out there energy without killing the audience with there noise, they time it so they know when to be backstage or not.

I know I would love to help with the project if we end up doing it as a site editing or contributing lines :)

Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / Re: Screwing Up

MY biggest bad situation were I screwed up backstage was my freshmen year of high school, I was actually an actor in the musical we were doing but also doubled as one of the main set designers, I had been putting back same paint that i had taken out to paint the bar we needed for the scene and I heard something drop, a can of peptodismal pink leaked all of the floor and onto the muslin canvas laying on the floor with the freshly painted background...
That was definitely my worst experience backstage thus far and I didn't handle it well, but my director was extremely kind about it and said no worries and we just took it step by step in fixing the situation. And even though I hated what happened it definitely helped me to learn to be more tolerant of others and when they make mistakes not to be mad but to do whatever you can to help them. Also I learned sometimes things just happen so you have to get over it and move on.

The Green Room / Favorite Playwright

So I was just wondering who your favorite playwright(s) is/are and why.

So far (though I haven't been introduced to too many writers works yet) I LOVE Walter Wykes. I have only read one of his plays, but I have seen tons of monologues from him and I find them to be fantastic! This my favorite monologue.

I am really bad about going into SMing mode when I'm managing anything... I did during December when I was subbing for a freshmen choir class (long story) but I kept directing these poor little girls with stage directions and other things and refereed to other terms they hadn't learned yet.... poor girls, lol.

Personally I'm not very versed in college courses (since I'm still in HS) but from what I was told by my choir teacher most colleges have a class where they teach choir students specifically how to pronounce words in foreign languages without learning the meaning. So maybe that would be better instead for a SM so that if there are issues with how words should be said you could fall back on that...

I'm not sure that my theatre is haunted... but it definitely has had some very STRANGE occurrences.

First one was during the first showing of White Christmas December 2010. My Director was up in the lights prepared to get the snow machine going when suddenly she felt like someone was behind her.. She though they had come up to ask her a question and she started turning around to ask what they needed and realized... no one could be behind her. She started to freak out and refused to look back. She then proceeded to text me me the entire time saying how freaked out she was.
The next showing came around and nothing happened she felt completely fine.

The second incident happened a bit after that like... ehh early spring? We all stayed after practice one day (actors and I) and we were discussing what we thought of different parts of the performance so far and suddenly the lights flicker. We didn't think anything of it at first. Then it happened again... and the third time the lights went out completely. being stage manager of course they tell me to bring up the lights (thanks guys). So I walked backstage to the light box we have there and I swear I thought I saw something but I  went to check the lights that were once slid up  and slid them back to there former position and turned on the lights and no one was there checked, the outside hallway even while the lights were out and in the workroom.

Since then the lights have done strange things like that but never like that, atleast when it does it now it seems to be wiring. Take it as you wish but that's the paranormal sitings of my theatre.
