The Green Room / Re: "I can't do that on stage."

the thing I've most run into that can't seem to happen is actually offstage--closing the door between the green room and the blackbox quietly without slamming it. I've had to go as far as having a 'how to close the door' tutorial.

Employment / Re: What (not?) to wear
« on: Jun 09, 2011, 12:30 am »
When I went out to interview for grad school this winter, I wore a black skirt, and simple magenta top, with a pair of black flats--simple, yet classy. It worked out well : )

The thing that scares me the most about relying on a computer is that I have had my computer erase its entire hardrive during finals week. That being said, if I ever did shift to working largely on a computer, I would back up files like mad.

Overall, the directors that I have worked with didn't particulary care for laptops at all--and made it known. So when the situation arises when I want something on the computer, I just take time outside of rehearsal to do it.  As it has been said, working with a new script sometimes is easier on a computer--I worked on a show this past fall which the playwright was in, so the script changed nearly daily.

Personally, I trust my handy-dandy (paper) notebook :)

This makes me sad  :'( They look pretty even when they're empty like this.

Just closed curtains at school here, there are quite a few chorus roles that could probably step it up--if given the challenge.

While I can see that this situation is frustrating, and how you may want to take action on it, I feel that you may need to work in a different way. Instead of directly speaking with the band director, I would have first spoken (calmly) my concerns to my theatre teacher ( in this case, your tech director). Then he or she can decide what to do, if anything. It may be that your two departments aren't getting along administratively, and the situation is beyond your control. Overall, I would say, just work with what you have, and keep your cool--getting angry just makes the situation all the more stressful, and doesn't get the problem solved. It may be that your tech director is doing all she can behind the scenes with the administration.

The Green Room / Re: Trivia Tournament II: Electric Boogaloo

Just finished today's history quiz: I call total shenanigans on the 10th question. I would adore to see the source material for that particular question...bibliography....anything that supports that answer. If that actually cost me a perfect score I would be so cranky! Thankfully, I missed one already so it's just annoying instead.

Ha. It did cost me a perfect score...I wasn't paying attention enough to realize it was a pun.

The Green Room / Re: Life (As Seen Through Performance Reports)
« on: Dec 23, 2010, 01:52 pm »
Tonight's performance of Finals!: the Musical on Ice went really well for questions 1 through 5, but after that the actors got Artaud and Cocteau mixed up for a brief moment. By question 7, they had moved on , and the performance went smoothly. 'A' standing ovation was given at the end of the show.
