3) And my personal pet peeve: don't try to sell to me my theater.  I already know the kind of work we do and unless you have a personal connection to my theater don't try to tell me how wonderful we are.

Along these same lines, back in March at the USITT conference I got some advice that has been useful to the way I phrase my cover letters.  You should always be telling the company or potential employer what your skills can do for them.

Another great school in the UK that I don't see listed yet is the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.  They offer an MA in Stage & Event Management, and I know a few people who have done a semester abroad over there and absolutely loved it!  I'm listing the link below.

The Green Room / Re: Life (As Seen Through Performance Reports)

During the second day of work shopping Joe in America Part I: New Year's Approaches, a number of audience members suggested a change of scenery for the climax of the show (which is of course New Year's Eve).  The director and leading man of the show have decided to rewrite the location of Act II to take place in Atlanta, GA instead of Louisville, KY.  How this rewrite will be realized is still unknown, but the props people have informed me there is a 1998 Honda Civic in stock along with a collection of musical theater soundtracks and a polar pop cup, so please keep an eye on your email for any additional changes.

The Green Room / Re: Spiderman's Stage Managers

I would just like to say that I think this article really shows how hard stage managers work and how important they are to any production.  I don't think the average theater-goer knows.

As a college student, a lot of times when people ask me what I do and I say stage management, they have no idea what that means or what I do.  Although this is a unique case, it shows what kind of stuff we have to deal with and accomplish, and how hard it is to do.  I appreciate an article that can do that.  :)
