Employment / Re: Taking Time Off
« on: Oct 10, 2008, 07:04 pm »
I started work immediately following graduation.  I don't regret making that choice.  One of the great things about our work is that you can often take shows you want, and give yourself time off if you need it.  I have traveled a month in Israel, a month in Europe and took a trip to Vietnam.  I am a travelor, I will travel for the rest of my life.  I have found that people who take a large chunk after college tend to travel less the rest of their time, and don't have as great of a time as those who take smaller trips.

Only you know what's right... good luck!

I graduated from it in 2006, and loved it!  I was immediately employed full-time at the USC School of Music (and had several other job offers as well!).

It's an intense program. They started out my year with over 25 students and only graduated 10 for the entire design and production class. It covers everything, being a BFA.  You will work on A LOT of shows, as well as have a lot of classes.

I would be happy to talk more with you about it!

Please make sure to add Carnegie Mellon University- they have a grad program in Production Technology and Management, which can be Stage Management or Production Management or Technical Direction.
