Students and Novice Stage Managers / Re: Rutgers at the Globe
« on: Aug 15, 2008, 06:36 pm »
I was part of the first class of stage managers that ever did this program 4 years ago.  We were the ones who pushed for it and made it happen.  Yea it is a lot of money and i'm paying those student loans off right now, but IT IS WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  How many times can you say you studied as a stage manager at the Globe Theatre in London.  I had two externships while over there, one actually being on a show in the West End (their Broadway).  Got to experience amazing theater and meet many working professionals. It gives you an outlook on stage management and theatre from a different point of view b/c it's a little different over there at times.  I can write a pages and pages about this program and how much this experience has helped me in my career, but I won't bore you.  Don't let money control your decision, I would have regreted never going.  Let me know if I can help you with anything specifically.

College and Graduate Studies / Re: Did/Do you attend Rutgers?

I attended Rutgers as a BFA.  It was a great program and I feel that I am ahead of the game in so many ways than others who graduated from other colleges.  If you do choose to go to Mason Gross/Rutgers get ready to work!  You are always working on a show, PSMing a theatre, or some other production tasks.   They make stage managing hard work and don't try to candy coat it.   The contacts you make are fantastic also.  I highly recommend it.
