I can only say that I am able to get so many SM gigs by being able to manipulate my schedule to fit the demands of the show.
I'm only a senior in High School, but I have successfully SMed most shows at my school. This spring I was even approached for a paying SMed position, even though I turned it down in order to work on my last show in my last year of high school with the theater program that has been with me for the past four years.
In order to do the best I can, I have gone so far as to take leaves from my part-time job, given up varsity sports, etc...
You need to ask yourself if this is what you want to do,
if dance lessons are more important, which is fine if they really are, than maybe you might want to re-evaluate things...
