Employment / stage management college degrees

Hey Everyone..

Now, I know this maybe a touchy subject, and some people may not choose to talk about it or whatever, but i'm just deciding where i'm going to go in my life, and deciding on a college and all of that, and I was curious to know what a round-about salary for a working Broadway Stage Manager is??? Either on tour or stationed at a specific theater?  Does anyone think it matters on your education, or your skill? And possibly would someone hire you over someone else if you were a college grad in the field??? If you don't choose to talk about it, that's fine with me, but i'd appreciate some feedback if possible, Thanks!

I'd definetely agree on the withdrawal thing.  It's always really sad to let go of productions, the people, and the good times.  I've found that just genuinely enjoying yourself with a show while you're working on and with it makes it that much easier and at the same time that much harder to let go.  I'd say it's for sure, bittersweet.  I like to take the memories, watch videos from the rehearsals, or tech week.  I will say I most definetely go into a depression for a few weeks after the show ends.

Hey everyone - Thanks so much for your overwhelming support! This is definetely the feedback I was looking for, I'm going to head over to Barnes & Noble later on to see if I can check some of those books out.  Also, Whoever had the idea for the doors for Noises Off, thanks, that's a great idea, I didn't think of that, but I did know all those door cues and everything. Thanks again everyone!

Nick.

Hi Everyone.

I've been on the bright side of the stage for a few years, and have decided to take a turn to the "dark side" as i've heard it called... I'm taking on the role of Stage Manager for three shows in the next few months, Noises Off, Jesus Christ Superstar and Grease.  I had some questions, regarding such things like blocking, and how some people go about their blocking, also a way of organizing cues, and maybe some knacks everyone has gathered over the years, I have great organization skills and think that Stage Management is the job for me!

Thanks in advance,
Nick.

Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / Computerized Scripts

Hey guys, I'm not really sure what Final Draft is??? Is that a program to block scenes on the computer instead of having to have a book? I'm trying to take blocking and make it computerized rather then blocking manually in my book, can someone give me the heads up??

Nick.
