Well let me start off by saying thank you to all you guys on this board and especially MatthewShiner for all the help and resources you have supplied me and many others.

The reason why I'm saying thank you is I just got the Saskatchewan Drama Assosciation $1000 Scholarship today.  Apparently there hasn't been any techs that have won it so far since they started giving it away ;D.  Also, last month I recieved our One Act MVP Tech Award.  And then during our regional one act play festival my crew and myself swept the awards winning: Best Crew, Runner-up best visual production, my asm recieved a merit award, my amazing sound tech recieved an excellence award, and I recieved Best Stage Manager award (the play that went on to provincial, their sm won the best stage manager at provincials).

Thank you once again for your amazing help,

Razzy.

P.S. In 8 years, after I finish getting my BFA for Stage Management/Technical Theatre at the University of Regina and then getting my certificate from the National Theatre School in Montreal, you will see my name in the programs in either Toronto or Broadway...It will be there, oh yes it will be there.  And when I do, I will make a scholarship for this board, and you can keep my word.

Well I've been working on the one act "The Summoning of Everyman" since February 28th and this past week was the competition for our region.  And sadly enough we didn't win best overall, so we aren't moving on to Provincials.  However, my crew swept the competion.  We got the highest mark for crew, Best Technical Crew award, an Excellence award for my sound tech, a merit award for my asm, and Runner-up Best Visual Award.  The best part about everything though was myself winning the Best Stage Manager Award.  I really have to say thank you to all of you guys/girls on this board for all the help and all the blocking/decksheet/etc formats that you let people download.

Thanks again,
Razzy

Well we just started preparing for the Saskatchewan Drama Association's One Act Festival and I was just wondering what things should be included in my "holy grail"(SM Book) and what the most "professional" way to organize it and also ways to up my score for the festival.

So far I'm including a schedule, scene breakdowns, rehearsal reports, contact sheets(with emergency forms), set diagrams, my blocking book, and then a binded call book.  Am I missing anything crucial?  If so tell me.

Thank you in advance for your wisdom,
Razzy

Tonight we were going over the first part of the Mikado and figuring out the character cases and our director said some things that seemed a little rude (he probably had no clue in what he had said), but it offended one of the cast members(my best friend).

Later on I instant message her about the night and all, and she was really offended.  However, I don't think I handled the situation correctly...well as a friend anyways.  I told her that if she was to quit she would prove the director right in his decision for casting...she got mad at me and now afterwards I'm starting to feel that I should have dealt with her as a friend and be on her side instead of trying to defend the director.

My question is how/where do you determine/draw the line between a stage manager and a friend?  If anyone else has stories like this and how you handled the situation, please feel free to tell it...I just need a little reassurance for what I did...

Thanks,
Razzy.
