The Green Room / Re: When the phone DOES ring...
« on: Nov 13, 2012, 11:45 pm »
I had a day a few weeks ago where I had planned on relaxing at home after job #1. Then I got the call and paperwork had to be done, calls had to be made and plans had to be created.  Work at home days are not nearly as relaxing as you want them to be.

I also recently had to take a trip into work on a vacation day in order to solve a problem. It was one of those "emergencies" that needed to be handled, but I still had that juggling act in my head of 'don't they know I'm on vacation' and 'gotta save the day!'

20 in a 140 seat round...it always looks worse when they're spread out around you.

1. What is your favorite word?
Effervescent...been my favorite since high school because of the definition: to produce bubbles and thus be bubbly.

2. What is your least favorite word?
Can't.

3. What turns you on?
Confidence.

4. What turns you off?
Ignorance

5. What sound do you love?
Classical music or the sound of an empty, dark room.

6. What sound do you hate?
An overload of noise.

7. What is your favorite curse word?
Not a word, more of a phrase...."C*m guzzling thunder c*nt."

8. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
Carpentry or making furniture. We do a decent amount of it, but doing it for a living would be great.

9. What profession would you not like to do?
Anything in a cubicle.

10. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
Here's your scotch and ask me anything as often as you like!

"Do what you like, like what you do." (ripped off from Life Is Good brand)

"Much more betterer." (when a significant improvement has been made)

The Green Room / Re: SANDY!
« on: Oct 29, 2012, 02:08 pm »
Gusting pretty good here in Mass with a steady rain.  Have plenty of coffee and alcohol to get me through (it's the important things, right?).  And the basement hasn't flooded yet!

Good luck to everyone out there in NY and NJ.  Looks like Sandy really has it out for you!

Anyone have any good pictures of the storm?

Employment / Re: Resume Format

I use Pages (iLife equivalent of word) with tables, then make the lines invisible.  Then I convert to a pdf for sending.

The Green Room / Re: Relief from insomnia
« on: Sep 18, 2012, 03:34 pm »
I find exercising before bed really helps me and reading often times too (nothing like The Silmarillion from Tolkien to knock you out).  But when that doesn't work, I have a breathing/meditation routine I do and usually fall asleep in the midst of.

One of my biggest problems though is not the falling asleep part, but getting a good sleep once I do.  I stage managed a wedding this past weekend and despite my best efforts to get rested for it, I found myself bring startled awake from the nightmare of screwing up my friends' wedding! Awful...warm milk or exercise can do nothing against my unconscious fears...

The Green Room / Re: I like my theatre like I like my men...

I would say let's make this thread equal opportunity but I'd be scared what we'd come up with....beyond "I like my theatre like I like my women - with nice long legs."

hah, a legitimate fear, to be sure...but I'll do a sweet one just to ease fears in case we want to:

I like my theatre like I like my women....smart.

There's some great theatre in RI, enjoy your stay and break legs!

Since I find little trinkets get thrown in a box and never opened in my house, I tend to do something charitable for the cast and crew, like donating to a non-profit or charity that has something to do with a show in their name.  For my closer relationships on crew/staff, I'll buy a bottle of wine or make them something edible to show appreciation.
