Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / Re: Sound Booth Clean?
« on: Apr 23, 2008, 01:15 pm »
A clean office is a productive office.
I can't stand clutter or disarray for more than a day.

Professionals are organized and clean, tell them that.
Sounds like they need a babysitter.

Who is their boss?(TD etc...)

They need to be put into their place.

One important thing to remember is that every company out there who does human flying (especially Sapsis and ZFX) are all off-shoots of Flying by Foy.  The founders of these companies are Foy trained riggers who left to start their own company.
"Uncle Bill" Sapsis first flew people in a tire swing.

This is my mic list from our recent production of FAME.

I remember smoke liquid from some model trains, but I don't recall exactly how they worked.

-----

Further research reveals that a small heater heats up a metal surface that causes the liquid to react.
I would think that a solid surface hotplate or mug warmer would work just as well.

You should be able to get it at any hobby shop that has model trains.

Glow sticks are a great example of a simple chemical reaction with spectacular results.

that's not exactly a transition AWAY from theatre, now is it?
I meant rock and roll, but whatever.
I have a hard time separating what people call "real jobs" from the EI world.

Ever think about tour management?

The audience walks on this you say?
That just became a code enforcement problem, and if it's blocking a handicapped entrance, an ADA problem.
Maybe point that out, casually.

AIRBOURNE!!!!
Does absolutely nothing, and they are getting sued for it.

If you do get a cold- Cold-EEZE is pretty cool, it helps shorten the duration of your illness with a bunch of herbs and stuff.
Do not drink anything with citrus in it or brush your teeth for an hour before or after, as it makes you want to vomit.

"Get a real job"
I can't tell you how many times I have heard people say their parents told them that.
-
If you do what you have chosen the absolute best way you know how, they will have no reason to be ashamed of you.
-
A decent idea might be something like having a business minor in college as a backup to reassure your parents that you haven't "put all your eggs in one basket" so to speak.

Step 2 would be to stop calling them techies... Most Techs I know would rip someones teeth out for calling them a techie (myself included)
I couldn't agree more.
It is considered demeaning in the professional world.

The entire prologue is done with the curtains closed on the apron so choir mics are useless at that point.
Why is the front of the stage not miked?

89
I once saw a production where they had a badly installed mechanical hatch and it closed on the actor's head during a performance.
Ouch, somebody obviously skimped on hardware.

unit------------ACT [1] S1/ S2/ S3 /S4 S5/ Etc..
Much more spread out obviously
Name under each scene, I usually include the character in parentheses.
Depending on what kind/ how much help you have you may want to record to frequencies and such also.
In case somebody figures out how to play with buttons during intermission. >:(
