Pencils. Pencils pencils pencils. And sometimes pens. (I always collect as much as I can when I work conventions, cuz seriously they are a weekly expense otherwise)

Aspirin/tylenol

Also forks and spoons. Hmmm.

This is lovely and quite comprehensive. This may be a stupid question, but these days you can never be too careful. Can we assume all names, phone numbers and email addresses are made up?

And - oh my do you hate me? I see some typos (one of my day jobs was copy editing and proofreading). Let me know if you want specifics.

Employment / Re: Dubai Opera Job Postings

Thanks. My other concern would be that Middle Eastern cultures tend to be challenges for women in perceived positions of power or leadership. I would probably be ok as an ASM but I would worry that as SM, it's my battles being heard by men from the 80s all over again.

Assume the pay rates are very nice, yes?

Thanks, I will consider applying.

Can I just say, I hate the Sports and Religion categories. Religion is really Christianity w a few others tossed in on occasion, and Sports? Well, it's sports.

That is all. Thank you

The Hardline / Re: Equity breaks again
« on: Apr 19, 2016, 12:15 am »
.... because for that AEA actor, a 6-hr day counts as a full day, not 6 hrs. If your contract has a 6-hr option, yes the meal break is 20 minutes. But confirm all w your rep. Make sure you count that actor's hours correctly (is your day 7/8-1/2 or 7/9 or 7/8 or ...?).

I am a little afraid to apply - as a woman and as a westerner. Can you speak to this a bit, since you are currently working in the region?

The Hardline / Re: LORT D Schedule Question

Ruth E is the expert, but if I recall correctly, as long as they know before curtain down the day before and as long as they get a full turnaround that allows the hour-and-a-half before half-hour, you are ok.

(Matthew - yes, I just noted it because it's the mentality of those who work year-round and don't always think about the reality of a more casual or occasional work schedule).

The Hardline / Council Elections 2016
« on: Mar 06, 2016, 12:27 pm »
Hello all!

First of all - the roster of those running for positions on council has been posted. It is so vital to participate in this election. Ruth already posted the new campaign, which is a wonderful idea. Please VOTE!

And - I am running to retain my seat as a Western Region Stage Manager. I have been told that folks need a term to learn how things work and how to make an impact. So I want to have that next term so I can continue making inroads in areas of diversity, gender parity, health weeks, more contracts especially for local members in their local theaters, among other things. As a voice for those of us working the smaller contracts and in the regions, both in and out of office cities, I have tried to make a difference by making sure our needs and concerns are in the room. Please help me to keep doing this!

If anyone has questions feel free to ask. And I humbly ask for your vote. Ballots should be out soon (btw, you can vote online!).

I like my local guys at Rose Brands, but Stage Depot gives me a huge discount for being a pro and that is my go-to.

I am curious to, so thanks for reporting back. I have had DST in both directions over tech weekend and we've played some interesting games to make sure folks got rest. But sometimes we just ignore accept it and move along. For comparison, I have a friend who works in a factory and they figure you work one hour twice in one direction and you get it off in the other direction, they figure it comes out even.

agree w Jess - I love those last-minute calls but they are ... interesting every time. Always keeps the adrenaline pumping and why I love events so much. Seat-of-my-pants calling can be great fun!
