Hello and welcome to SMNetwork.  Be sure to check out our Students & Novice SMs board if you haven't already.  In regards to finding a mentor, browse through the site.  Identify a few members whose stage management philosophy seems in line with yours.  Reach out via PM.  They may not be able to take on a full-time mentorship role but would likely be willing to answer a few questions privately (though I can't speak for all of our members).  And read through the boards and join in the conversation.  The best way to learn (and network) through this site is to actively participate.  Hope you find it to be a great resource.

The Green Room / Re: Sleeping in your theatre

I fell asleep on the butt board at my tech table on the dinner break of a 10 out of 12 once.  The sound designer has photos for future blackmail purposes.  But my favorite spot is the double papasan chair in the living room of our actor housing/admin offices.  The actors seem to claim all of the sofas and Equity cots in the Green Room...

Hello and welcome to SMNetwork.  If you enjoy opera, you will definitely want to check out our SM: Other board.  I hope that you have a positive experience working with the community theatre; I have seen some truly wonderful productions at companies considered to be "community theatres."  When you're working in an environment where everyone is excited about a project and pulling together to put on the production that can be the reward in and of itself though the result may not be as polished as what you find in a professional setting.  Hope you find the forum to be a useful resource.

Hello and welcome to SMNetwork, Antonio.  You can use the search method that PSMKay has recommended or you can use the Search feature in the upper right hand corner as well.  This forum is a great starting place for SM (and theatre) knowledge as well as a great networking tool.  Check out the shadowing search results that PSMKay has posted.  And if you are not NYC based, start out by approaching theatres in your area to find out if they have any shadowing opportunities available.  Hope you find the forum to be a useful resource.
