Everyone else was doing it, so I figured why not.
Hi everyone, i'm Phil I go a community college in Upstate NY with a major in Liberal Arts and a minor in Theatre(technical concentration.) I went to a high school that a fledgling(on a good day)drama group of about 30 people with 5 of them being backstage. Subsequently I did a bit of everything including stage management/crew, carpentry/elec, properties, lighting, sound, fly and anything else that came up. About three years ago I walked into a local rep. Theatre company and there I have stayed, being as small as we are I have also many different things here. My true "talent"(supposedly", or so I am told)is audio engineering. I am sometimes known as simply- "Phil the sound guy"

Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / Re: No Smoking in Denver
« on: Jan 30, 2007, 04:03 pm »
New York's anti smoking laws apply only to commercial enterprises. Being a non-profit we are technically exempt. For health  reasons we do not allow smoking inside except during a performance in which the use of smoking material is crucial.

I find that if I keep legal pads on a clipboard where the top part of the pad is pinched down they tend to rip evenly.
I use a Saunders Cruiser Mate II

If it only happens in one ear no matter how long, it is possible you may have some minor hearing damage. See an Audiologist if you can find some time.

Anything that is checkable, and of a decent level of complexity should help a little.

I have at least 20 Sharpies of all different colors. I stopped carrying the minis in my pocket after an unfortunate cap incident involving a new pair of pants turning red near the pocket.

Am I the only person in the world that shuts off VOX?

I believe VOX is the work of some engineers that like to annoy the hell out of people for fun.
I will not allow it used on any show that I work.

It's been done, somewhere..

It's really quite easy to become a Notary Public, and not a bad idea for forms like this.

Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / Re: Actor Calls
« on: Oct 12, 2006, 06:04 pm »
The last large rental client we had was a full high school theatre company doing a musical/comedy/murder mystery I was pretty much doing everything, including calls. In our theatre list curtain times at 8 or 3 but always start the fade in at 5 after, the calls are usually in real time until about 58 after when everybody is actually ready so they will always be in places ahead of time.

The best snack food known to man are the Chili Spiced dried mangoes from "Trader Joe's".

If somebody wants to buy a boxful of these and send them to me via FedEx or UPS I will pay handsomely!!
