When I do work for community theatres, nobody is getting paid (or getting paid much), but we are all still expected to act professionally, because we are working for a company where people are paying to see the show, and where other staff members are paid to make sure that you are doing your job.

That's PER YEAR. You really want to wrack up that debt and go into theatre? Just something to consider. You aren't walking into a 100k/year starter law job.
What I did to make things run faster during the show was make a list of the recorded music that people needed and in what order it they go in. Then I had everything organized in a box according to the order, so the change time between tape/cd was minimal.From my perspective, that kind of "system" just screams accident waiting to happen.
