Tools of the Trade / Re: Should I become a Mac-er?
« on: Jul 23, 2007, 03:21 pm »
I have the first version of the MacBook Pro, and I love it.
My only problem is that the hard is not big enough(80GB) though this has been remedied in newer models(120GB).

Actually, I work on an outdoor gig where we use radios, and the FCC did in fact beep in once and ask us to identify ourselves.  We didn't get fined, but I think we were reminded that we were using public airways.
<running out to buy a lottery ticket now...how small does the state have to be for my odds to be good?>
Wyoming maybe.

I did it once, right before I quit doing musicals in High school.
I was sort of an extra though.

However, if walkies are used in the US, the FCC regulates profanity (strange but true).  Should profanity be overheard because you're being monitored or accidentally overheard or something, you can get fined.
You're funny, the chances of that happening are about as good as you winning a small state lottery jackpot.

The Green Room / Re: SMs in media?

have you seen the Canadian television show Slings & Arrows?  A show based on the daily operations of a theatre, loosely based on the stratford theatre festival.
Great character is the SM

The Sundance Channel actually has episodes on it's website:

I was also thinking about using vinyl tape (like electrical tape) but that seemed like it would be more slippery than the spike tape.
Absolutely, it is slick and will most likely peel off if it ever sees water.

I opted for Gerber over Leatherman because I like the fact I can open it with one hand.
I can open my Leatherman Wave with just one hand.
It's all in the wrist .;)

I was going to suggest The Fantasticks until the part about 20 people was added.

PFL'ing of mics should NEVER be routed through backstage/booth monitors. They should go to headphones for the sound op only. And what is heard through PFL should never be repeated. It is part of the Noiseboy's Informal Code of Ethics (NICE).
That is an official ethics violation. The only time anything should be repeated is if said cast member is missing their cue at that second and is somewhere they shouldn't be screwing around.
PFL is for line and transmitter checks period..

P.S.
Squeak is an accepted substitute for soundboy(if you are not a lighting person that is)
