I've got to find a fire extinguisher that can be refilled easily with whipped cream (or something similar). I'm looking into refilling a real extinguisher, or maybe using a soda siphon and painting it.

Does anyone have any other ideas? Naturally, the cheaper the better!

Thanks!

I realise this may be of limited value to those of you in the States, but I use something like this:

http://www.science2education.co.uk/product/ZSC-98A

It's designed for school science use (as you probably guessed from the imaginatively-named website), but it is perfect for timing things.
I only use one on my desk/table, and it doesn't have a clock function within it, but it does what it says on the tin!

That's just common sense, isn't it. We don't need to do anything special.

Any person or persons (including actors, technicians, patrons, and producers) acting like unreasonable seven-and-a-half-year-olds  will be trussed pig-style to a baton and flown above the set. They will not complain. They will not sue. They will take their punishment silently, and be considerate to everyone for the rest of forever.

While (whilst?) wearing a dunce's cap.

Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / Re: Time question

I've never used seconds for any report. Unless the show is running very close to it's curfew or time limit, I can't see how it would be useful.

The sizes it comes in are a little strange, though. A4/letter sheet or metre-wide roll? The cost also prices it out of pretty much everyone's range. $1,800 for the equivalent of 20 (small) rolls of Gaffa.

Are lyrics going to be printed in the programme? Are they going to appear on a screen? How will lyrics be made available to blind, or poor-sighted patrons? Is the song well-known enough that viewable lyrics are unnecessary? Will the conductor need to face the audience? If so, do the orchestra need a  camera and monitor to see his face at all times? Do the audience need to be seated according to voice range? Will there be actions, or props, required for the audience?

New Note: The character of 'Fred' will give birth onstage. The director has requested realisim (i.e. He wants to see placenta.)

Unless I'm in fit-up, I'm pretty much always in a shirt and trousers - regardless of the role I'm working in.
Never shorts, unless it's outdoors and VERY hot, and T-shirts are very rare for me - I stretch to a polo shirt if my iron is broken.

Your method sounds pretty normal though!

That will do very little against a rugby team....

Every single member of the production team, cast, creative team, etc., is on an amazing phone network that has 100% signal and coverage in every possible location on earth.

A special barrier will cause audience member's phones to automatically turn off upon entering the theatre.

This will only affect the audience - everyone else will have the above phone coverage.

Obviously, I can only speak from personal experience here. I'm able to confidently follow a score (maybe after a couple of coffee's worth of practice), I know what each time signature means, I can find, for example, page 110, 3rd system, 2nd bar, 1st beat, and, given time, I can say what a note is (do US people get taught Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge, FACE?).

Sorry, a lot of commas there, but my point is that I have very rarely needed to read a score, just follow one. And yes, there is a difference!

As I said, this only comes from my own experience so far! And I hope this helps.
