Seconding weebly...found it very easy to customize and reroute a domain name.

There is the interesting thoughts that a director, choreographer and stage manager could all share the same file, make changes, and have access to it in real time during rehearsals... or that might be creating a monster. Hmmm...

That sounds terrifying. All the more reason to keep it pencil and paper (though my friend just convinced me to try the electronic calling script)

Great project!

Deep breath.

Fix as much as possible.

Apologize, and make sure it doesn't happen again.

The other night I made a dumb error during our preview and was really hard on myself about it...but I had to remind myself that if it had been an actor who screwed up I'd have said to shake it off, because there's a whole rest of the show to finish. Funny how I didn't think to give that advice to myself!

Explain it to them. The fact that you've only SMed one show isn't from lack of initiative, it's just a timing/scheduling thing. (The fact that a director is reserving you for shows definitely looks good too!) You're clearly still motivated to find places you can get experience (ASMing, crew on outside productions) so I don't think it'll hurt you.

Congrats!

My college offered a "Theater Outro" course in our second semester senior year....basically an "I have a degree in theater, now what?" class on marketing yourself, putting together a resume, where to look for jobs, AEA, etc. While it was more geared towards actors (we didn't have many tech/prod students) what I did pick up was amazingly helpful.

Seconding classes in acting, directing, and lighting!

I just laid it out...in this room, I have to boss you around a bit; outside of this room, we can be buddies.

Students and Novice Stage Managers / Re: Double Casting Your SM

I think if you want to definitely SM the show, meet with your advisor and make it clear BEFORE they cast, just so save a possible recasting scramble. As a double major, I'm sure they'd understand if you chose to focus on one aspect or the other.

I'm in the middle of almost a month between shows and I am getting restless. (On the plus side, I'm channeling it into an apartment overhaul.)

I did a show with a long run like that, and the first night that would have been our first show after day off there was a definite feeling of "there's somewhere I'm supposed to be right now..."

By now you've probably seen Sh*t Girls Say, Sh*t Guys Say, Things Vegans Say, Things Musical Theater Girls Say, etc et al. (I'm surprised there's not a Sh*t Actors Say, actually.)

Since I'm not talented enough for a video- Things Stage Managers Say?

"Are you getting coffee? Will you get me some?"

"Places! No, really, seriously, places."

I've had a few actors who came at it from other backgrounds, and the best thing I found was to explain not only what we were doing, but why. For example, calling half-hour, fifteen, five, places before a show, or even a cue-to-cue. Then you also lessen the risk of, say, calling "fifteen" and having someone think that means they have a fifteen minute break (true story).
