The Hardline / Re: Actor Notes - After opening
« on: Nov 18, 2008, 04:37 pm »
Very interesting post! I work in a community theatre where the director rarely misses a show and have been strickly told to not give actors notes, but requesting notes from them is a wonderful idea that i am defiantly going to try on my next run.  Thanks guys!!

Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / Re: I am out of solutions
« on: Nov 03, 2008, 01:09 pm »
THis problem is way worse than mine but i had something a little similar,  I had a crew member that was Bipolar and was constantly in a bad mood, or yelling at someone. I tried everything... yelling back, threatening, calming. everything you listed, but nothing worked, finally i just gave up and it stopped.  Her thing was when some gave her attention she got nervous and thus created a huge dramatic scene. So my solution was to ignore her and when it was appropriate to talk to her or i need something from her i acted like it didn't matter if it got done or like i could care less.  She is now one of my mose dependable crew members, i just gotta deal with her the right way.
As for your situation, idk if ignoring the situation is really going to solve any problems. :(

Ok so i've been SM for awhile, but i've never had a ASM, well only once but they did squat.  So i just got a gig at my local community theatre doing A Christmas Carol: The Musical. and i am going to have a real live ASM.  HELP What are tasks are they suppose to do? What should i reserve only for myself? What is asking to much? What is expected? I"m so use to doing it ALL myself that i don't want ot over load her or make her feel under used/appreciated.  Any advice is helpful!!!! Oh and i'm suppose to contact her with her tasks like today soo ASAP would be much appreciated :)
thanks guy!!
