Thanks for the tips, was just trying to get all the info before we have a convo regarding this matter.

The show is Kingdom, a new musical (Very In The Heights -esque) at ReVision Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ

Here is an SPT question for you...

If only half of our contacts on the show have to be equity and its a small musical (8 actors) can the dance captain be non-equity?

Note: Only half have to be equity due to special agreement with AEA.

Tools of the Trade / Re: Useful iPhone apps?

City transit is an app for NYC transit, it  has a NYC subway map and also a list of all the lines and the stops that each subway line services, and can find the nearest subway stop to where you are

I find it to be a lifesaver

That is a very interesting thought...

I use facebook daily, maps daily, city transit i use almost daily as well, I use my banks app a lot too

Shazam i use probably once every 2 weeks,

All the others including ones i have dloaded for SM'ing i use when needed.

I as well do seperate scripts for blocking/notes and calling.

I prefer to have a very clean script for calling.

I also try to do 100% digital scripts, it just makes it more easier and precise for me.

I do have the script on the left hand side and have my blocking/notes form on the right side.

My form has the ground plan on the top third of the page, and the bottom 2 thirds of the page is 3 columns (Blocking, Direction, Props/Notes/FX)  The blocking column has numbers 10-100 down the left side of the page.

I find this has worked very well for me.

I will second the notion of having mobileme in conjunction with the great apps that you can put to use on the iphone make it invaluable personally - just living in new york and making getting around much easier, as well as professionally in MANY ways!

Thanks Digga, thats along the lines of what I was thinking.

Employment / Re: NY SM Question

that is part of the reason as to why I am asking.  Lately some of the AEA off-broadway houses have been doing non-union productions so it all becomes very muddied.

I just dont want to give anyone the wrong impression on my resume, because before I have been given advice that any non-broadway production is Off-broadway... which i think is totally false and glad i didn't heed their "advice"

Employment / NY SM Question
« on: Mar 01, 2009, 02:42 pm »
When you are putting New York credits on your resume... do you have a section with "Off-Broadway" and then another with "New York Theatre" or do you put it all under one or the other?

I am going back and forth on this.

Any opinions on this?

Thanks ruth so much!

That is very sweet and it sure is crazy how things work out!  I am going to try to make it to the drink night on Monday! ;)

Thanks for everything!

Congratulations, John!

Funny how things work out, isn't it?

 ;)

I just got my card by signing a contract for a new SPT production in NJ

Any tips with the contract or being new to AEA?

I have worked under AEA contracts throughout my career but always as an intern/apprentice or it was under the showcase code in NYC

Thanks,

John

Thank you so much for that info very helpful!

SPT is fairly straightforward - the biggest thing to know is that although you're allowed 10 out of 12s for tech - there is no increase in hours for the week for actors or SMs.  So keep track of yours and the actors hours for the week and if you use 1 or 2 10 out of 12s - make sure it falls under the proper hours based on what level SPT you are.  Otherwise you'll go into OT for that week.

If you have any more questions - let me know - I've been working under SPT for a little while now.

EDIT: Merged Double posts.  -- PSMK
