I'm sorry, I'm just playing the game of advocating for my tool. I did not mean to become a tool. I'm sorry and I won't do it anymore.

137
You keep using this word... Socialist.... I do not think that word means what you think it means...

138
But my point still stands: there is a better tool to accomplish holds than the headset.

Also, how much time do you spend in rehearsals where cell phones are more useful vs in the theater when you'd be using a headset?

139
The short answer is yes.

I'm sure things of this nature have been covered before, but I'm mobile at the moment so navigating for me kinda stinks. Darn fat fingers!

But yes. Wrote everything down. You need to notate where the actors are onstage and when they move and where they move to. You'll need to keep track of props and where they enter and exit, how they're used etc. you'll need To make note of costume changes and how fast they may need to happen. You'll need to know what goes on backstage in terms of backstage tracks for crew members, cast and what not.

This is a very broad view of what you'll need to concern yourself with. There's plenty more, but don't let it intimidate you. It's a lot. But it's fun, and its very rewarding. Keep asking questions it's the second best way to learn. Best way: dive in the deep end and start swimming!

So what on_headset is telling us is they commit the cardinal sin of headset use and press the talk button prior to screaming hold.
The cardinal sin of sitting in a soundpoof booth a few dozen meters away from the actor who's about to get squashed? (In a house where, I might add, cellphones don't work anyway.)

But again, wouldn't a god mic be more useful then? What happens if someone is off headset? You can tell them hold all you want. For the example you're giving, a god mic is the best tool. It's a direct line to the sm and it goes through the sound system.

Now, I may be misunderstanding how your set up works. Headsets can tie into the sound system i realize that. But if you're calling hold through a relay of people, that's not exactly a plus.

Screaming hold should be enough one would think. One should also probably use a god mic for said purpose.

ps: I'd vote for god mic making a bracket next year.

This is a no-brain, I totally agree with the multi-talents (and dare I say handsome, yes, I dare) Nick . . .
Flashlight over Paper any day!!!

This is an uneasy alliance. But I'm glad to reach across the tech table to agree with Matt!

143
I'll get you next time gadget. Next time

144
I'd rather go paperless than have a dead actor because they couldn't see their escape path via my flashlight.

145
So when people don't show up on time, do you try to contact them via headset or cell phone?

146
I clicked "report to moderator" on Matthew's inappropriate post, and it told me horribly offensive things.

This is a conspiracy. And everyone is in on it! Including her!

147
Seriously? Now I have to advocate for cell phones (currently 4-1 headset)??!!

I'm still fuming over the multi tool injustice. I'mma pull a Koch Brothers and flood this race later on if I have to.

Did you know that 77% of the stats posted on the internet are fabricated?

You know why bed scanners are superior? there is absolutely no way you will waste money by placing the original on the bed wrong. You can't place it wrong. There's only one way paper fits.

How many times have you wasted money photocopying something and you didn't line it up right? Something multi tools never have to worry about.

I would like to point out that the voting is supposed to be closed tomorrow but the polls are closed now.

BIG COPY strikes again with voter suppression. This was gerrymandered so BIG COPY would find its way easily into the elite 8.

May Cellphone kick your flash tubes straight to H-E-Double Hockey Sticks!

149
And as mentioned before, I can scan all those and print them out. Photo copier not required.

Mountain Dew?

Yes. Mountain Dew. What do the rest of you drink? Coffee? That bitter swill we used to replace tea in order to show England we didn't want their superior drink?

It's sad how much enjoyment I'm getting from this thread. So so sad...

And yet, I would have taken a year of this over the 2012 election coverage ANY DAY.

VOTE COPIER OR YOU'RE A SOCIALIST!

I find that people who bandy the word Socialist around tend to use it in the inappropriate way. This is an example of such a misuse. Liking things other than a photocopier does not make you a socialist. Being a socialist makes you a socialist.

LCSM: You vote against your own interests and it is sad. I am filing paperwork to have the YSMPC registered as a hate group.
