Hello,
My name is Tyler and I'm at my first summer stock as an ASM with the Banyan Theater Company in Sarasota, FL. I am in the last semester of my senior year at Kansas State University where I'm concentrating in stage management. I've ASMd: The Adding Machine and I've SMd: A Nervous Smile, Time Stands Still and Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. Once I get back to Kansas I'll be prepping to SM Columbinus. While I'm new to working in summer stock as an ASM, I'm not new to summer stock. Two summers ago I was a Scenic Intern at Utah Festival Opera and last summer I was the Scenic Intern at Cortland Repertory Theater.
I'll be graduating this coming December and I'm nervous about moving into the real world... shocking, I know. I'm a little concerned that there will be very few theater companies hiring for positions that start in December/January, or do I have the wrong idea on that? At this point I would love to move to Chicago and get in the world of stage management up there but I don't know many people and I'm currently poor, but when has that ever stopped someone?! If Chicago doesn't work out, I'll move to where ever a company is willing to give me a job. Feel free to give me any advice and thanks in advance!
